Warehouse and distribution staff for the densest logistics corridor in Melbourne.
The estates along Boundary Road, Dohertys Road and Palmers Road hold more distribution floorspace than anywhere else in Victoria. Third party logistics operators, grocery and retail distribution, freight forwarding and container work all sit inside a few square kilometres, with the Western Ring Road and the port a short run away. The labour that keeps those buildings moving has almost nothing in common with the labour on a construction site down the road.
Warehouse work is rostered, directed and supervised by you, on your equipment, to your dispatch cut off. It scales hard against a forecast and it falls over when the people who turn up on Monday are not the people who turned up on Friday. We supply pickers, packers, storepersons and licensed forklift operators through this corridor, and we build a shift pool around your roster rather than sending a different face every morning.
Warehouse and logistics roles, supplied to the shift pattern the site already runs.
Order picking, packing and general warehouse hands for sites running to a pick rate and a dispatch cut off. Voice picking and RF scanning experience where the site needs it.
Licensed LF and LO holders. Counterbalance, reach and order picker work, with the licence class matched to the machines actually on your floor.
Receival, put away, stock rotation, loading and dispatch for warehouses running real stock control rather than a spreadsheet.
Line hands for the co packing, repacking and light assembly operations that sit alongside the warehouses through Derrimut and Deer Park.
Not an exhaustive list. If your site is nearby and not named, ask.
Bluestone Labour Group holds Victorian Labour Hire Licence VICLHL11535. In Victoria it is a legal requirement for a host employer to use a licensed labour hire provider, and the obligation sits with you as well as with us.
Warehouse and forklift work is casual employment, not contracting, and the reason is straightforward. You set the roster, your supervisor directs the work, and it is performed on your racking with your machines. An ABN arrangement laid over that carries a sham contracting risk, and the exposure lands on the host as well as the provider. We engage these workers as casual employees on the Bluestone payroll under the relevant Modern Award, so the wages, PAYG, superannuation and WorkCover obligation sits with us from the first shift.
Licences are checked before a worker is offered, not after they arrive at the gate. High Risk Work licences are sighted and verified, and we match the class to the machine, because an LF licence does not cover an order picker. Site specific verification of competency on your own equipment stays your call, and most operators here want it that way.
The part that matters more than any of it is consistency. A warehouse that gets four new faces every Monday spends the morning inducting instead of picking. We keep a small pool attached to your site, brief them on your layout and your systems once, and roster the same people back. When someone does not work out, we replace them rather than defend them.
One consolidated weekly invoice, timesheets approved by your supervisor, no sign up fee and no lock in contract.
Yes. Afternoon and night shifts are normal in this corridor and we recruit for them specifically rather than asking day workers to cover them. Tell us the start time, the finish time and whether the shift runs five or six days, because a worker who suits a permanent night roster is not always the same person who suits a rotating one.
We check the class before the worker is offered to you. An LF licence covers a counterbalance forklift only. An order picker that raises the operator with the load needs an LO licence, and an LF holder cannot legally operate one. Tell us which machines are on the floor and we match the licence to them.
Four weeks is the difference between choosing workers and taking whoever is left. Every distribution site in the west ramps up at the same time from October, so the experienced pool empties first. A rough forecast four weeks out is more useful to us than a precise number at one week.
Casual employees on our payroll under the relevant Modern Award. Warehouse work is rostered, directed and supervised by the host and it is performed on your equipment, which makes casual employment the correct model. Superannuation, PAYG and WorkCover sit with us from the first shift.
